|
+BRAVE: Sophia is brave. She is unafraid to stand up for what she believes in. She's been a social outcast for the majority of her life, so being different isn't really anything new to her. She's bold and different from everyone else. She likes to think she'd be willing to take a bullet for those closest to her.
+INTELLIGENT: She graduated at the top of her class in both high school and college. She is no dummy. She learned to read well before kindergarten. Many of the women on her father's side of the family are geniuses. While she is not a genius, she is pretty darn close.
+RESOURCEFUL: She is quick on her feet and extremely clever. She has good natural instincts. Her creativity allows for her to deal with scarce resources in very innovative and different ways.

-TOO SERIOUS: Some people claim she has no sense of humor. This is true to a certain extent. She is a very serious person and likes to keep things serious. It's all part of her work ethic and who she is.
-TEMPERAMENTAL: Sophia has an absolutely nasty temper. When she gets mad, it's explosive. Little things can set her off as well. In fact, it's mostly little things that set her off.
-COLD: She can come off a bit disconnected and chilly. People think she has a disregard for other's emotions, but that's not entirely true.
-"KNOW IT ALL:" It's the nickname she has had to carry with her since elementary school. She hates it, mostly because it is true. She is a know-it-all, and she's constantly correcting people if they're wrong.
-EASILY FRUSTRATED: She can get frustrated with herself very easily. Sometimes she thinks she's not good enough. It's gotten a lot better since she graduated from college, but it's still there.
RANDOM FACT NUMBER 1: She has an extreme obsession with older actresses. Perhaps it is because they are experienced? Or maybe it's because they're just her "type."
RANDOM FACT NUMBER 2: She doesn't really have anyone she considers a "best, best friend." Nobody really understands her in that way quite yet.
RANDOM FACT NUMBER 3: She loves Harry Potter. It was her favorite series as a girl. Her favorite character is Minerva McGonagall.
History: IN THE BEGINNING...
You are born the first daughter to Thomas and Emily Foster. Your father is a Prebyterian Minister, your mother an executive of a big company. You are a product of love. Pure and simple love. Your mother is from Scotland, your father America. Your father met your mother while studying abroad in Scotland during his junior year in college. They became fast friends, but did not fall in love until many years after. Your father attended Princeton Theological Seminary after undergraduate study. Your mother got into Princeton University to study business. They ran into each other one day on the streets. A sign from the universe that they were meant to be together. They married young.
Your mother could not get pregnant for many years. They wanted to have a child right after they married but it was always to no avail. When you were conceived, it was a miracle. Nine months later, you born. A healthy, beautiful baby girl in Princeton, New Jersey. Your parents were still completing their graduate school. You were placed in day care with the other children of students.
You hate it in daycare. You try to escape but always fail. You do not wish to be with these strangers that you do not know. The day care lady says you are the most impossible child she's ever had. You cry for your father often and loudly. Finally, the lady gives into your pleas and takes you to your father. She says you will regret it. She says you will be bored. But you are not bored. You sit on your father's lap as he takes his class. You are quiet and happy at the familiarity that is father. You fall asleep.
MOVE #1...
When mother and father finish college, you know it will be time to move soon. You are excited at the prospect of going somewhere new, but you know you will miss the playground you play on and the children you play with. You are moving in with your grandmother. You have only met her briefly, but you have a feeling she is a wonderful woman. So you might miss this place, but you are more excited than worried.
She is wonderful. She really is. You love her very much and you do everything together. You think grandmother is truly the most special person in the world. She is a teacher at an elementary school. When she is at work, you hang out with grandfather. He loves you very much and gives you treats even though mother says he shouldn't. You go out on walks with him all the time. He even takes you to visit grandmother at her school from time to time. Grandmother loves to watch movies with you, especially Big Bear in the Big Blue House and Sesame Street. When you get a little older, she begins to teach you how to read. You are happy here, and you believe you have found your home.
MOVE #2...
Well, perhaps you haven't found your home. Years pass, and father finally finds a church. You will be moving out of grandmother's house soon. You are upset when you find this out. You wish to stay with grandmother and let mom and dad go away. But that isn't possible. You have to go with them. So you pack your belongings and leave grandmother and her gentle hands and soft voice behind.
Your new home is lonely. You don't like it and you don't like being a minister's daughter. Whenever you try and do anything the other kids are doing, you get yelled at by the scary old ladies. You are forced to stay down and listen to the sermon every Sunday. They do not let you go upstairs for playtime with the other kids. You hate it. Months pass, and mother and father tell you that grandmother will be moving close to them. You are very happy at this news. When she arrives, you help her move in and spend every weekend after that with her.
When it is time for your first day of school, you are terrified that no one will like you. Grandmother says that's impossible, but you're still scared. You make a friend on the first day: a girl named Alex. You become best friends. She comes over to your house every single day and you play together. You are best friends until she tries to kill you. You don't know what went wrong. You got into a fight over a stupid computer game and she ended up suffocating you. You couldn't breathe. You needed to get her hand off of your face, so you bight her finger. She cries. Your parents see her finger bleeding, you can taste the iron in your mouth. You are punished. You try to explain but they won't listen. You cry and they send you to grandmother's. She calms you down and listens to you. She tells mother and father what you said to her. You are no longer punished. Grandmother always knows the right things to say.
MOVE #3...
In second grade mother has another child, a boy named James. You move yet again. This time you are not nervous to move at all. You've done this before, and your new school sounds like a good place. Your new house is much more beautiful than the ugly old manse you have to live in. The town is not far away from father's church. It is very convenient. The town is very small though. You are not used to so much farmland. You live in a somewhat gated community. It is small and very secluded. You become the best of friends with your neighbors. Their names are Samantha and Jane. They practically live at your house.
James likes to pull your hair a lot. You hate when he does and get mad at him for doing it. Mother tells you he is only a baby. That doesn't keep you from thinking his behavior is very, very rude.
DEFINING MOMENTS...
You love music. You love to sing and play the piano. Mother says you have a divine voice, but you are unsure about whether you believe her or not. As you grow up, you become very involved with your school's music program. You learn how to play the trombone. Father played the trombone and you want to be just like him. But you do not like your school the way you thought you would. People don't like you. Most of them are famer's kids. They do not like to learn nor do they like the music or books you like. They think you're weird and call you a "know it all." You hate that term. You hate that you aren't popular. You hate yourself, and you begin to think that there is something wrong with you.
Everyone who is popular plays sports. You are not athletic, but you want to belong, so you join the softball team. You are actually quite good at it. You learn how to pitch and become the best pitcher on the team, beating out another girl who had been the best since Cinderella Softball. You know she doesn't like you. She talks about you behind your back. You wish she'd just stop. She makes mean comments about you during practice. The coach sees but says nothing. Her bullying breaks you and you come home crying one day after practice because she tried to kill you. Why is everyone trying to kill you? She hit you with a bat in the stomach and then she tried to break your head open with a softball during throwing practice. You tell your parents you are quitting.
You find comfort in music. You continue to excel in the music program. You are a talent. In your senior year, you go to All State Choir. You are the first female to accomplish this at your small school. You graduate in the top ten of your class and get into a good, small liberal arts college. People still think your weird. You've grown a thicker skin by now, so you really don't care what they think. You cannot wait to graduate so you can get out of this town.
A CHANGE IN ME...
You major in philosophy with a double major in music in college. You want to go onto law school eventually. You are the brightest girl in your class, but nobody thinks you are weird this time. People like you, and you have plenty of friends. You're in the school orchestra, choir, and founded a musical theatre club. You are a shining star on campus. But you insist that you aren't popular. You hate high school terminology. No, you are just a good person who is friends with a lot of other good people.
You graduate magnum cum laude and get into Harvard Law School. You feel yourself changing from an insecure little girl to a woman. In the process, you loose some of your innocence and childlike wonder. You have your first boyfriend. He breaks your heart when you find out he's been dating two other girls at the same time. You loved him and thought he was "the one." You vow never to fall in love ever again after that because it hurts too much. You're slowly turning into a cynic. You are finally beginning to see the world for what it is, and you are not sure you like what you see.
It all comes apart the summer before you enter into Harvard. Your little brother was killed in a boating accident. He was sixteen years old. You cannot stomach the thought of him being out of this world. Mother and father are inconsolable. You don't blame them, you probably would be too if you lost your child. You see a therapist. They tell you to defer your acceptance for a year. You refuse. Life cannot stop just because someone died. You go onto Harvard and you throw yourself into your schoolwork. You do not give yourself time to properly mourn.
You work yourself to the bone. Everyone knows you are going to break down eventually. Mother and father insist that you go on a break the summer after your second year. They purchase a plane ticket for you to go to The Bahamas. You reluctantly agree, but you know this is all a bad idea. Little did you know... Faceclaim: Emma Watson Made by: RACHEL |
