Teddy is a very simple man with simple tastes. He's thirty three years old and owns a bookshop in London. He's a homebody and prefers to keep to himself. Underneath his shy exterior, is a very kind and loving man. He's very sincere and genuine. While he is not a fan of being around a lot of people, he is in tune with his emotions. He's very understanding and empathetic, and although he does not talk a lot, he's a good listener. People often come to him if they have problems because he doesn't assert his own opinions. He merely listens and gives advice when it is asked for.
He is extremely bookish. Name a book, and he has probably read it, even the bad ones. When it comes to literature, Teddy likes to be in the know. And yes, he has even read Twilight. He loves poetry, his favorite poet being Walt Whitman. He also has a love for Shakespeare. Every year, he goes to a Shakespeare play at The Globe with his family. He's a very bright guy. His parents keep bugging him to do more with his life than owning a bookshop, but Teddy is perfectly content where he is. People assume that he's not successful, but that's really not how he looks at his life. He doesn't need much to feel fulfilled.
Around new people, he's very shy. It takes a lot to get him out of his shell, but once you do, a whole new person emerges. Around his family and closest friends, he never shuts up. Sometimes he'll talk too much. Even around those closest to him, he's still a tad socially awkward. It's just part of him. He's a very tall, very lanky, socially awkward person. Teddy has been that way since childhood. He has trouble talking to girls, and he does not know how to flirt very well. Someday he wants to get married and have a family, and he's sort of upset it hasn't happened yet. In theory, he's a gentleman with women, but he has yet to have a serious relationship with anyone yet.
History: On the thirtieth of July, Theodore John Abbott was born to Daniel and Hannah Abbott in Canterbury, England. He was the fourth and final son to Hannah. His father was a minister and his mother was a doctor. She opened up her own clinic, dedicated to helping the less fortunate. Teddy spent most of his childhood days, running around the English Countryside with his siblings. At a young age, Teddy learned how to read. After that, he could always be found reading some sort of book in his room or outside by the river. Once or twice, he got in trouble for reading during church services.
In primary school, Teddy was very quiet. His teachers were concerned about his lack of social interest. They tried to put him in remedial classes, but his parents argued that their son was not developmentally disabled, simply shy. The teachers reevaluated and realized this was correct. Teddy had excellent grades. Actually, he had top marks and was exceedingly bright for his age. Instead, the teachers tried to get him to participate in class activities. It sort of worked. He got more involved, but it was obvious he preferred to be by himself.
In Secondary School, he made friends with a group of boys. They would go over to each other's houses on the weekends and stay up late playing Dungeons and Dragons. Teddy also played trumpet in his school's band. He was definitely a geek, but he didn't really mind that label. He was content where he was. Popularity wasn't something that ever interested him. He was the top student in his class come graduation. He was accepted into the University of Edinburgh. There, he studied English Language and Literature.
At the age of twenty four, he wrote a book for his literature class. His professor read it, and submitted it to a publisher without even asking him. A few years passed, and Teddy's book was finally published. At first, he was mad at his professor for doing that, but then he realized it was a good thing. He basked in his glory, but remained humble. After college, he started writing again, but he found he had bad writer's block. He missed deadline after deadline. Finally, his publisher bailed on him.
Instead, Teddy opened up his own bookshop in London. It was not a generic, run of the mill shop, though. Teddy hand selected the books he ordered for the store. His employees were only hired if they were fond of literature and books. Many people frequent his shop, and he has even generated a handful of regulars who can always be seen in there. Teddy's parents have expressed their disappointment. Teddy has not let it bother him though, he's genuinely quite happy with where he is in life.
This past year, he travelled to America. Having never been there, he was excited to visit. While there, he won a trip to the Bahamas. Thinking his luck was good, he accepted it. Unfortunately he was wrong, the plane crashed on a deserted island.
